Villainy: A Call to Justice
Hey everyone, Jason here with Christ Peer to Peer. I wanted to share some thoughts that have been on my heart lately about wealth and justice. 🙏
I think I might be coming across like I’m trying to vilify rich people, and that’s not really what I’m doing. The truth is, their actions are villainous.
Imagine running a billion-dollar company, giving yourself tens of millions of dollars a year in pay, benefits, and stock. Meanwhile, the hardworking people who support your company are paid less than a living wage and are given benefits that aren’t really worth having. They have no stake in the company they help to build. What is that if not villainous behavior? 🤔
If you don’t want to be villainized, try not acting like stereotypical villains. Instead, act with fairness and compassion. Pay your workers a fair wage. Provide meaningful benefits. Allow them to have a stake in the company. It’s not just good business; it’s the right thing to do.
The Bible teaches us in James 5:1-4: “Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.” 📖
We are called to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8). Let’s strive to create a world where justice and fairness prevail, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. 🌍💖
